Pussycat: My Broken Souvenirs

These guys are another one of my favourite bands – wonder if any of you remember / like them? (I know Nidhi doesn’t think much of them ?, though this is her favourite Pussycat song. Mine is ‘Misssissippi’).  Pussycat was a Dutch group made up of three beautiful Polish-Dutch sisters who were all telephone operators before they became famous. Their lovely voices when hitting the harmonies were sublime. They used to be regularly featured on the radio during our teens in India – maybe more on “Forces Request” than “A Date With You” to be fair.

‘Georgie’, ‘Smile’, ‘Hey Joe’, ‘Wet Day In September’, ‘If You Ever come to Amsterdam’…soft pop with amazing melodies, all of these songs are still on my personal Oldies playlist. I know a lot of people think they are boring, inoffensive type of singers who don’t really draw out a reaction..for me this is music to listen to with a hot mug of tea and the Sunday Times.

‘Mississippi’ was their no.1 hit – i could have picked any of the other song to be honest, they are all really nice. I think that was their problem though.. The label of being a “Nice” group made them a bit blah for some people. What do you guys think?
